Integrative Muralism

An integrative mural project begins with a question.

We then identify and develop a subject or topic of interest. Through the use of an Action Research framework in a one to one, small group, or workshop setting, practitioner and participants co-research the personal and communal narrative content associated with the chosen subject in a creative, non-judgemental and safe environment.

Applying this framework within these settings encourages experiential learning through dialogue, reflection and sharing. Essentially, this process is about describing and representing what is of value and meaning for each individual, group or community by providing a platform and process to express their stories through the nexus of public art and the creative use of text and symbolism.

Check this short film for an example of what an integrative mural project looks like and the kinds of community outcomes and partnerships able to be produced.
